In the name of Go Amen; the
seven and twentieth day of May one thousand six hundred fifty eight according to
the computation of the Church of England I Mary Ballard of Narborrow in the
county of Leicester spinster being of perfect memory and remembrance praised be
god do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form
following. First I bequeath my soul unto God that gave it and my body to be
buried in the churchyard of Narborrow at the discretion of my executor hereafter
nominated. Item I give unto Thomas Ballard son of
Thomas Ballard five pounds. Item I give unto Grace
Ballard daughter unto the same Thomas Ballard my bother the sum of five
pounds and my cloakes, linen and woollens. Item I give unto Richard
<Bates> my father-in-law two pounds and ten shillings. Item I do make and
ordain my brother Thomas Ballard my sole executor of this my last will and
testament revoking all other wills and testaments. In witness whereof I have
hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year first above written. Mark of Mary
